How do I unpair my DS3?

11 replies 509 views Edited Feb 11, 2012

I've got two DS3's for my PS3 both of which are paired to the console, but I've become more engrosed in playing games on my PC. Here's the problem I can't unpair the DS3's by resetting them, just doesn't work for me, so how do I unpair one of them, so I can play wirelessly with my PC? My PC has a bluetooth adapter by the way.

The controller will only work wired to USB on PC. And you need special drivers that only work on 32bit operating systems and even then its a PITA to get working properly

Nope I've seen it used via Bluetooth and I've even got that end setup, I just need to unpair it from the console so when I pair with my laptop it doesn't start up the PS3 when I press the PS button. There's got to be a way I can unpair the DS3 from the PS3?

You would need a USB most likely and plug it up to the PC like when you unpair controllers from PS3 to put it to another PS3 you use the USB wire plug it in wait a sec then press the button it automatically unpairs and pairs to the other ps3

Plugging it into your computer with a USB cable will not impair it from the ps3. I've tried it before. It still turns the ps3 on.

If you're that adamant on playing pc games, why do t you just use the keyboard and mouse? If you must use a controller, why not use the Xbox 360 controller? It's designed to work with windows without any 3rd party drivers.

Well unlike some, not all of us are WINDOWS users. Infact I'm a LINUX user, and I want to use my DS3 because I don't want to use my keyboard and mouse, I want to lay back, be lazy and enjoy gaming with my DS3. No wires, etc. I've got 2 Xbox 360 wireless controllers and 2 DS3's but I want to use the DS3 because it's like and has acceleromators.

The whole point of me asking how do I unplug my DS3 is so I don't have to use my Xbox 360 controller.

Honestly, you're trying to make it do something it wasn't designed to do. I've heard of Windows drivers (unofficial mind you), but not Linux. I'm afraid there might not be a solution, or at least an easy one for you.

Just out of curiosity, why are you trying to game with Linux?

Because Windows is virus-infested, horrible, and just a sheer joke of an OS. Linux is more efficent, and far easier to learn and also code for. There's no limits to what I can and can't do with Linux. With Windows, your stuck with whatever MS decides to give you unless you use third-party programs to do "illegal" things.

Besides, I've been a Linux user for years why would I want to game with Windows? Because it has "more support"? I don't care about that, I can easily run games through WINE, at the same speed on Linux, that would "natively" run in Windows... But that wasn't the question. The question was, how do I unpair my DS3 from the PS3. There has to be a "hidden" option somewhere? Perhaps I'll have to install CFW and go through it that way... Hmm.
