How can we and Sony save the PS Vita

52 replies 467 views Edited May 14, 2013
I have been reading a lot of reports that the Vita is failing more and more as well as Sony not saying much in terms of saving it. If anyone has any requests or ideas for saving the Vita, your suggestions are appreciated.

My first suggestion...
A PS2 emulator and start porting games like KH, FF, GOW and the classics. They can be sold discounted and even more discounted through Playstation Plus.

Re: How can we and Sony save the PS Vita

Seems like from the PS4 reveal that they have plans for more fully integrating the Vita with the new console.  I'm not 100% sure I understand exactly how that'll play out (e.g. better support for remote play?  More PS4/Vita titles (think All Stars etc.)?  More cross play?  All of the above?), but I'm willing to wait and see.

In the meantime, I'd love to see a combination of new titles (e.g. Batman, Killzone, Dragon's Crown, Soul Sacrifice) coming and better support for bringing classics onboard (PS2 and PSP etc.).  I know a lot of the latter has to do with licensing and may be out of Sony's hands, but I'd still love to see it happen.

It's a great system, but with more support it could be a lot better. I just hope Sony can deliver.

We can't save it, Sony can. We are consumers, we just pay. Sony, on the other hand, is the only one capable of:
1. Developing exclusives for it~.
2. Securing exclusives / games for it~.
3. Encouraging devs to develop for it~.
4. Cut the price so it won't be overpriced~.

So, until Sony does one of, or all of the above, points the PSV will keep flopping. Integration with the PS4 won't make it look any less of a fiasco despite what diehard Sony fans on these forums will tell you~.

or have the games fans wanted to get FOR THEIR Vita  came out games like :

Mobile Suit Gundam Seed: Battle Destiny
Tales Of innocence R
God Eater 2
Tales of Hearts R
Gundam Breaker
J-Stars Victory Vs.
One Piece Pirate Warriors 2 ( Vita ver.)

The Legend of Heroes: Sen no Kiseki

Ragnarok Odyssey Ace

Hyperdimension Idol Neptunia PP

Phantasy Star Online 2

Hyperdimension Neptunia Rebirth
Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA f

just to name a few. These games not only keep the fans happy but Sony & Third party game companies such as Namco Bandai, Square Enix , ETC making exclusive game only for the Vita. Having games for dowloadable only will make fans loose intrest in the vita.

Most of the titles you listed are very niche games for the Japanese market, and as such, will more than likely never reach here.

Here are some that come to mind.

  • More games/exclusives
  • Lower the price of the Vita
  • Lower the price of the memory cards.
  • Develop a slimmer version?

I believe the pricing of the system as well as the memory cards are a big part of why the Vita is not having enought sales.

Completely agree with you - none of those games do it for me or most of the Western market. That being said, I do hope PSO2 comes to the West, alongside the cross-platform play with PC. I think a F2P game like that can help, even if it's somewhat niche.

GEB2 and PSO2 aren't niche; PSO has a cult base in the west since the days of the DC. GEB developed quite a loyal fanbase since GEB. The others though, are games that wouldn't propel sales of the PSV. That said, more games is always a good thing; it's just that all most of those games have zero chances of making it here on account of resources needed to localize or copyright stuff~.

I would like the developers to start releasing alot more DLC . Call of Duty doesn't have any DLC, Resistance doesnt have any, and some of the other games I have only has a few DLC to purchase. What im mostly looking forward to is Killzone in September so I will just keep switching between my Vita and PS3 to hold me over.
