One of my PS3's froze the day i got it out the box....... as i was setting up my PSN ID. 

Even if its a few hours or a few days after purchase, its still gonna happen. My laptop froze on me SEVERAL times within the first 5 hours of setting everything up to my liking.

Totally agree with gR3y. When you have all that coding in such a tiny peice of technology, its bound to freeze no matter what. Thats how it goes. Computers and laptops freeze a lot and most people dont freak out. They just restart it. Not a big deal. Get over it and reset. Dont unplug it. Hold the button for 20-30 seconds until It shuts off.

OP take it back and get another one. I had a new slim keep  freezing and it turned out to be the hdd that i installed. RMA'd the HDD and put the orignal 120GB back in and all has been well since.

The switch on the back of the fat PS3 model does the exact same thing as pulling the plug out. It just completely cuts all power to the PS3. Unplugging it and plugging back in doesn't seem like a big deal if you only need it when the system does a HARD FREEZE. Usually a soft reset is the case. But in a rare case as this, just pull the stupid plug!

Also, the LP2 demo is online, and it was most likely something network releated that caused the PS3 to freeze.

But if you're THAT scared of pulling the plug, YES RETURN THE PS3 to Sony... And buy yourself a Wii and a pacifier.
