Help with HDD Swap

5 replies 96 views Edited Jul 18, 2012
Hey, I have a 120gig slim ps3 and purchased a 500gig wd hdd to upgrade it... I installed as instructions showed and have updated firmware on a flash drive.. When I power up the system its telling me it can't find the updated firmware.. I've confirmed that the flash drive is set up properly and actually did this same exact upgrade on my other ps3 yesterday and it worked fine.. Is it possible that this upgraded hdd is just bad and should exchange it? I put the old hdd back in and it works fine and even reads that the updated firmware is on the flash drive... Thanks for any help!

Why don't you just update the firmware manually through the XMB?

Honestly Idk what that means lol... But it's a brand new hard drive so it's requiring the updated firmware to initially start the system.
