Help needed to bypass network restrictions!

3 replies 207 views Edited Jan 27, 2010
Hi guys,

I love playing my PS3 online, but i can only play online whilst at my parents as when i'm at university i live in halls of residence, and the university network blocks online console play. I figured that if i did a port scan i could then configure my PS3 to work through the allocated ports?!? Or use a proxy or something?! I'm not particularly great with computers, so any help would be appreciated.

Thanks
, ElTray

If you've got a router handy, try that. But your best bet is to call your campus IT and see what/why they block.

A proxy server could work depending on the type of security they have. I know a lot of schools are cracking down on this. I used http://www.samair.ru/proxy/ when I was in school.

Are those paid proxy servers secure? Do you need to provide any authentication? Or do you simply type the URL and it goes on from there? Will appreciate any help.
