Re: Games won't update expiration date after renewal for ps+

Feb 8, 2011

Alright so I still haven't had the chance to call Sony because I've been ridiculously busy with work.  However, the problem is still not fixed, and I am going to make it a point to call them when I get off work today.  I'll let you guys know what happens.  Also, I checked my download list, and apparently according to Sony I never downloaded all of the items that I don't have licenses for anymore.  This is seriously thievery.  Whenever gamers screw over the game companies, it always gets a ton of attention, but whenever the companies start to screw over their fans-their LOYAL fans-it gets pushed under the rug.  I have never been so disappointed in Sony, ever.

Re: Games won't update expiration date after renewal for ps+

I didn't call anyone any names.  Other than loyal fans.  I just got off the phone with Sony.  I'm ridiculously disappointed.  They acknowledged that it's their issue.  They said that it's a fluke, that it should not have happened, but that unfortunately there is no way to get the content back to me.  I said that I understand that problems happen, but how do I know this won't happen again?  Why should I stick with this service?  I was completely understanding and I wasn't being anything other than nice.  I said that I wasn't getting what I paid for and I asked if they would refund the 3 months or even one month or if they'd give me the next 3 month for free and they said they couldn't do that.  I asked if there was anyone higher up on the chain that could and they said no because they got the answer from them.  So, to summarize:  It's their issue, a fluke, and they acknowledge it but they can't give me back the content.  I'd be okay with that if they would give me a couple months credit or something, but they aren't even willing to do that when it's their issue.  I literally have no reason to stick with the service because I have no way of knowing if this will happen again, and they can't even show the courtesy to right their wrongs.

Yep same here.

It said so long as you had a PS+ subscription, you could keep them. And I have one. Sure my subscriptions have a gap in them (of 2 days in my case) but I don't see why I can't keep my content when I resubbed.

I really liked PS+ but because of this I've stopped playing the games, and won't be subbing.

Yeah I was pretty angry, and I still am a bit angry.  I called back after I'd thought about it for a bit and decided not to give up.  I asked to speak to a manager and told him the situation.  He decided to check into it and then wrote down all of the games in question (there's at least 10) and told me that he is having a "specialist" look into it.  I work in phone support.  We do this when we really have no idea what's going on and need some time to look into it.  They're going to call me back tomorrow.  Hopefully they have some good news.  I literally won't stop here if they blow me off again.  I'll go as high up on the chain as I have to to get my licenses back or a proper credit (it would be over 50$ i think with all of the games added in).

Re: Games won't update expiration date after renewal for ps+

I think there is something wrong with the way Plus games set the expiration date.  They only set the expiration date when the game is "activated" (which is basically when it's installed).   I had bought the 12+3 months subscription shortly after it first came out (June 2010) and decided to "cap off" buy buying another 12+3 months before the promo went away.

All the games I downloaded prior to adding to my subscription still show as expiring in September 2011.  Anything I installed afterwards shows it expires in December 2012.  This includes minis and psp games transferred to my PSP.

To update the PSP expiration times, I could simply re-copy the games back over and that appeared to update the expiration time since they were re-activated.  For the PS3 the only way to update the expiration time appears to be to download and install the games again.  That's pretty stupid if you ask me.  There should be a way of automatically updating the expiration date.

Edit:

I found out you don't actually have to download and reinstall on the PS3.   To update the games' expiration date, you simply have to start the download, but then cancel it.  That will re-activate and update the expiration time.  It's still a pain to do so, but at least you don't need to wait for the games to re-download.

Yeah to update, it isn't a fluke, as someone else described. It can happen 100% of the time, you can duplicate it under the same conditions without fail. It looks like it's been done so that you have to keep your subscription continuous rather than letting it expire, and resubbing.

Morac_, I just tried to update my games' playstation plus liscensces in the manner you suggested, via my psp through the media go program on my pc, and it absolutely definitely does not work the way you suggested. Although my initial plus membership expires in one week (4/18), last month I purchased another three month ps+ membership. Thus far, the only ps+ bonus game which reflects the new, updated date is the mini Duael Invaders released last week; all of the previous games I have downloaded through my plus membership show an expiration date of 4/18 regardless as to whether I redownload them since I inputted my new ps+ or not....it's kinda weird, but I'm going to wait & see what happens
