For those of you that switched to 19 blade fans!!! question!

6 replies 162 views Edited Oct 13, 2012

So I just switched my 15 bladed fan to a 19 and all has been working great thus far. It has yet to go above 3rd gear even while playing BF3. However my concern is that after I'm done playing and when i'm in the xmb idling, the fan doesn't seem to go down a notch back to 2nd or 1st gear. Do you guys have the same issues too? I think my 15 blade fan use to go back to a slower rpm once I started idling in the xmb.

Your thoughts will be appreciated!

How long does it idle before you shut it down?

my 80Gb fan usually slows down after idling between 5minutes to 25minutes..... depending on how long a game has been played in reference to the level of heat soak the PS3 is subjected to

well it just idled for 55 min and still no speed change....when I put my hand over the vents, it dissipates cool air as opposed to when I'm playing a game so it should go down a notch am I right?

I dont have a PS3 with a 19 blade fan, but it might be because the fan operates at a different variable resistance level in which the thermosensor near the CPU and GPU sees to control the fan output.

Just a guess

Everyone's experience is going to be different, because the fan speed is also infulenced by the environmental conditions of the room. If you haven't already, I also suggest you install new thermal paste and thermal pads in your PS3, for better cooling capacity...

I've already applied the thermal paste with antec formula 7 pea method and replaced it with a 19 blade fan. I've been reading that others after exiting a game, within 20 min or so, the fan takes it down a notch. For me after I exit and sit in xmb, it stays on level 3 the whole time until I turn it off. I don't know if it's the 19 blade fan's fault bc I don't remember the original fan doing that or maybe I was oblivious to it. When in xmb after a game, does your fan step it down a notch? when idling?

Like I said, it can depend on the temperature of the room you are in. If it is above a certain point, the fan won't go down in speed...
