Figured out the 80710092 error! (Help needed though)

7 replies 3228 views Edited Aug 5, 2007
Some of you know of this site already, but i found that it solved the problem for me!

My problem was: PS3 couldn't log into PSN. Gave me error 80710092 (timed out) whenever it would try. The PS3 was even able to surf the web, but PSN did not work.

My solution: Change the DNS server the PS3 uses (my ISP's DNS) to the ones from www.opendns.com

Now I've got some questions that I'm hoping some of you might be able to answer:

- Is opendns pretty reliable?
- Can I be pretty sure that it was my ISP's DNS malfunctioning and not some other problem? opendns fixed it
- If that's the case, why would my ISP's DNS just go down and what could be done (if anything on my end) to fix it?

Thanks guys

I have used opendns for a few months now, and it does seem pretty reliable. I don't know if it will permenantly fix the errors though.

If you running off of a router try login into your router and updating its firmware.

I did a full article on this, http://community.us.playstation.com/message/31044013#31044013

I have used AT&T DNS and can tell you that I am not having any problems since I did this. Try this, and it should work, I think it has to do with PSN, because I was able to use the PS3 browser, yet I couldn't sign in to PSN.
