Far Cry 3 UK Store, 75-100% above retail prices

3 replies 216 views Edited Dec 1, 2012

I was looking at Far Cry 3 today. I like the idea of using my new PS3 super slim 500GB with game downloads, but I find the prices on the UK store are far too high. I can order Far Cry 3 retail for between £30 and £39.99. Sony want £59.99 on the store. As Sony do not have a retail store to run, sales staff, or postage, why cant Sony match "bricks and mortar" retailers prices? You would have to be mad to pay 65% more for a game download.

If that's the case I completely agree with you, unfortunately no one on these Forums wil really mind too much about the prices in the UK/EU store because there are the USA Forums!

But yes, I agree with you, if you can get it cheaper elsewhere do.

Where are you seeing this price at?

are you sure they're not pre-order prices?

Logic, who would've thought eh? Oh wait.... No one thinks anymore.

Because you're paying for the game, and not the format. This idea that many have clung to that digital downloads were going to lead to lower prices is a fallacy. Retail outlets compete against each other, with digital download there's no competition, and none from used games, so there's less incentive to lower the price.
