I have 2 ps3 60gb, both are ylod. Kinda hard to believe that there is a 1% chance of ps3 going ylod when both mine went ylod in about 2 years. I must be super unlucky to hit a 1% failer chance twice.

My first PS3 is a CECH-3001A 160 GB Slim that I got early this year. Got a new PS2 Slim from Best Buy to play my PS2 games since my original "fat" PS2 finally died on me.
My younger cousin was wanting to sell his CECHE01 80 GB BC PS3 (bought August 2007) so I bought it last week from him. The only issue he had was the Blu-Ray drive quit and his dad took it to a local repair shop to have it replaced since it was out of warranty.
The fan did run a little high though but when I bought a 500 GB WD Scorpio Blue HDD I gave it a thourough cleaning from tips I have read about here while lurking (used canned air, vaccum remaining dust out, did not do the "fan test") put a small base under it and gave it plenty of room to breath. Now the fan doesn't work as hard and it stays relitivly cool. I also keep a clean towel over it to prevent dust from entering.

And you?
I still have our 60GB PS3 launch console. But sadly it was a YLOD victim several years back.
Still haven't decided what I'm going to do with it yet. ![]()

i know i am a couple months late and this is a 60 gig ps3 one but i have a 20 gig ps3 launch model i bought from a gamestore where i live. they told me it was a 60 gig model, didnt realize it till i looked at the hdd and it said 20 gigs and i found out i had a model that was discontinued after 1 year. it ylod on me 1 week after i bought it, took it in to a store nearby to get it repaired. now it works and is silent (from what i hear, people are complaining about the noise problem, just should have bought a 20 gig model, silent lol). i recently put a 500 gig hdd in it, and its hooked upt to my laptop for ethernet.

I just took my 60Gb back in June and got a full refund, gotta love those 3yr warrenties.
I got a ton of money back so i bought a much cheaper 320GB uncharted 3 bundle and a couple more games.
Who said being a early adopter was a bad move? I even got my warrenty money back!

Mine's 6 months post launch, but it has full backwards compatability and such. Mine is still going strong!
