I was hoping someone would know which software I could use to format this whole 500GB hdd to FAT32? I been searching and all I can find is a software which will only do partitionis of 32GB or less...Any help would be appreciated!
Yeah I am on windows 7 and had no luck with swiss. Could you link me the HP software...
I used EASUS Partition Master Home edition to format my external HDD. Very simple to use and it took less than a half hour to format a 100Gb partition into FAT32 while keeping the rest of the drive in NTFS format for PC files.I had a laptop backed up to this drive and didn't lose or corrupt any data after the partition/reformat. The 80Gb PS3 read the drive immediately after plugging it into the USB port. Supported for Windows XP/Vista/7.
I JUST did all this bullsh*t with the backing up, PS3 to PS3 transfer, and formating external harddrives after my old PS3 YLOD; so here is my experience in a nut shell.
- I got a 1TB Seagate External Portable HDD.
- Then I went to the website and searched "Format FAT32" and found this nice guide for "Formatting a Large Drive Greater Than 32GB with a FAT32 File System Using Seagate DiscWizard." http://seagate.custkb.com/seagate/crm/selfservice/
- Downloaded DiscWizard: http://www.seagate.com/ww/v/index.jsp?locale=en-US
- Format my entire drive (1TB) to FAT32 (Originally I did a partition of 500GB FAT32 and 423GB NTFS)
I have used DiscWizard on a Seagate and a Toshiba external portable HDD. My guess it will work for any HDD needing to be formatted.
Anyways if you have any other questions about backing up data, restoring data, or transfering data (and maybe somethings on YLOD) I can probably answer most of them. You can either message me on PSN or leave a private message for me, as I don't usually get on the fourms often, but I do get on PSN pretty much everyday.
