Dual Shock 4 - What is the oval port for?

3 replies 157 views Edited Nov 15, 2013

At the bottom of the controller there is a 3.5mm audio jack and a wider oval port. What is this port used for?

Sorry if this has been posted already, but I could not find an answer anywhere.

Since it looks like it's attached to the headphone jack, I'd guess it is for future audio-related peripherals...  possibly 5.1/7.1 headphones or something.

Thats what I was thinking. I was hoping for atachments to use 7.1 headsets right off the controller. That would be sweet.

It is how the DS4 plugs into the charging station. I'm sure what else they have planned for it.
