Driveclub: Automatic trans only or manual / manual+clutch available?

[ Edited ]

I'm surprised nobody has asked about this anywhere, not even the press, and I can't say I've seen any sign of any gameplay but automatic.

I really hope we'll get manual driving because it will be what gets me to buy the full game instead of settling for the ps+ edition.

This makes no sense... the PS+ edition doesn't strip away features. It just has less tracks and cars, which you can purchase yourself indivually - that's it. ALL racing games usually give you one of the two options of automatic and manual.

I'm adding this to the PS4 thread ^

Let me explain my logic:

I don't enjoy any racing game that doesn't let me shift manually, therefore would not pay for the extra cars and tracks if I can only drive automatic.

Logic still does not make sense - ALL racing games give you that option I believe (maybe not arcade racers), especially if it's a simulator - which Drive Club is making itself out to be. The reason why no one has asked is because it's probably a given...

DC is making out to be a halfway between Arcade and Simulation, but the reason I'm truly wondering is because

A) Evo made no comment about it (maybe maybe it is obvious, as you say)

B) No journalist has asked about it nor is there any keyWORD matching 'manual' in any article related to driveclub

C) This video shows the controls at 31 secs and I dont see anything manual related though maybe the demo is just set to automatic only...

I just want to KNOW!

I would be incredibly surprised if the game didn't feature manual driving. That being said, I haven't seen confirmation one way or the other at this point.

I think there would be manual shifting. The people making the game said they wanted everything to be authentic from starting the car to driving and whatnot

I think it's worth mentioning, though, right? I mean, there is a difference between manual and manual CLUTCH like in NFS Pro street Smiley Happy

Its where you couldn't simply push the analog stick up or down, you'd have to hold the left bumper (to push in the clutch) THEN you'd shift up or down and then release the bumper (releasing the clutch) to engage the new gear.

THAT was awesome and too few racing games utilize the feature.
