Re: Downloading free games question..

So instead of making a new topic think I will keep my question here.

So being new, I've tried downloading Renegade Ops since it's offer free.

I've notice 2 things, there's the Demo pack which is 2592 MB and there's this Full Game Unlock which is 188KB.

So why is the demo 2592 in MB but the full game is 188kb? Am I reading something wrong here?

Am I downloading the demo first and then downloading the Full Game Unlock and using that to unlock the demo into a full game?

So is the demo free too or just the full game unlock that is free?

The demo is the full game download. The smaller download just unlocks the full game for you. So  you have to download both to play the full game. Both are free with Playstation+. Most of the PSN only titles work this way.

Re: Downloading free games question..

What kidcoyoteanarchy said, the demo is for the game files, the full game unlock is an authenticator that links with your account and tells the demo you have access to all the features they locked. You need both, a lot of PSN games have both files, it's keeps them from having to upload 2 separate games onto the store. Easier for Sony and the Developers.

Re: Downloading free games question..

Ok now if I were to down load these games to my HD. Can I delete them after I played them to free up HD space and then redownload them in the future for free still?

So long as you're still a Subscriber, yes you can.

Re: Downloading free games question..

I suggest that you initiate the Download for every current game so that the game is linked to your account as activated for future download when you upgrade your drive. Just press download and cancel right after.

Re: Downloading free games question..

So I'm using the auto update feature that PSN+ provide.

Now why am I getting auto update on patches on games that I don't even have? That make no sense and kind of wasting my HD space.

Like what games? I've never heard of it downloading patches to games you don't have.

Re: Downloading free games question..

I can't see how it would download patches for games you don't own, are you sure this is actually what happened?

As far as I know this feature will only download patches for gams recently played, I suppose if you did have some game & then deleted them without deleting the save data then it may do this.
