Mine started to freeze and I sent it back to Sony.
many of the other important PS3 features including the PSN, the ability to play games online, the ability to access online features, or the ability to play newer PS3 games and/or Blu-ray discs that required Update 3.21. On the other hand, PS3 owners who did install Update 3.21 lost all access to the computer functionality of the PS3’s “Other OS” feature.

All of my friends who own a PS3 have said they experienced freezing once in a while, and I have also. So how bout you guys? I hope it is not damaging to my system.
They will freeze from time to time dependant on the software you're running, some is less stable than others... for example Fallout NV is known to freeze regularily... MAG, occasionally... BlackOps... occasionally... but something like Wipeout HD, should never lock up. If you're having the types of games that are known to be perfectly stable, lock up on you, it's probably a problem with your hardware rather than the software.
As for damage to your hardware, the only thing It could... corrupt, would be your HDD. Say if it locked up whilst saving, or something like that. It could mean you'd have to reformat the HDD to get it working... I have personally had this happen once, on Borderlands, however I guess I was very unlucky.
At LEAST once a week. Most of the times more. Last week I froze playing Skyrim twice in an hours time. Madden 13 has frozen on me twice since it came out. I never have frame rate issues or slowdowns at all, my PS3 just randomly freezes. I play it a ton thought so I'm thinking it overheats. It's not in the best spot it could be in (On a sheft in a corner).
