i was wondering if it matters what tv you use, like if it effects the graphics of the games you play and stuff?

To me it does only because the better the TV (with in depth research of course) the better color reproduction it can have. A TV isn't going to make your games graphics better per se, but it will make the colors and edges look great and as realistic as possible. Just throwing this out there, get a Samsung, amazing colors and has yet to disappoint in any way.

It depends really, if your on PS3 i fully recommend a 3D tv, i got a cheap one and it blew me away on games like Crisis 3, also i have had my PS4 on a Bravia and havnt see it look better than on that. Nowadays must tvs over £200 are atleast half decent so it all depends on your budget, but def do research before buying, the most expensive isn't always best and the cheapest isn't always the worst!

I'm using the 24' Playstation 3d monitor hooked up with my PC & Ps4. The colors on this thing are really great.

I will suggest TS not to get a CRT or a demo unit.
Reduce prices for digital edition of games permanently if it is older than 2 years.

I used to have the playstation display but that died on me 2 weeks back, it kept on droping the signal on me, it was great was it lasted, minus the speakers I ran the optical audio SPDIF out to my PC then out to a logitech Z623 (not the greatest but they get the job done).  I have a samsung UN40FH6030FXZA, it has a delay of around 30ms even in "game mode".

The best thing to do with any display is to calibrate it and most displays out of the box could more often than not use it.  The Disney WOW disc does is great for those new to this.

Mine is a 32" OLED 3D Bush tv, £220 new and ive had no problems at all, does 1080p and 1080i, 60hz and came recommended specifically for games. I know Bush aren't big players anymore but i was very impressed.

I use a 40 inch 1080p led Toshiba and i use to have a Sharp 42 inch lcd Aquos and tell ya what my Toshiba LED just runs circles around my Sharp, the Toshiba picture is cleaner and the color production is just perfect, now i would had said no no all LED's are equal but that's not the case, so be selective when you pick up a new monitor.

Sure it matters.  We can start with the basics.  Would you rather play games on a black and white tv or color?  Then there's resolution.  480p, 720p, 1080i, 1080p.  And hertz as well.  60hz, 120hz, 240hz.  There's 2D and 3D.  And don't forget about size either.  Would you want 32" or 200"?  And the latest technology is 4K resolution.  It's 8 times the resolution of 1080p.  I'm not sure how a PS3 or PS4 game would look on a 4K television, but the posabilities are limitless these days.

The gap between PS3 and everything before is so huge that backwards compatibility is more important now than ever. PS3 games should be preserved.
