I think the PS3 getting hot is something to be worried about, you never see one overheating without it getting hot . Electronics do get hot, but not all electronics have known issues of overheating and failing on a fairly large scale.
Neither does the PS3

It's not large enough for them to recall them but my 60GB and lots of my friends have all YLOD'd and I think that it's large enough to be something for people to worry about.
YLOD is a general hardware failure and doesn't necessarily mean overheating. Technically, very few PS3s have actually overheated, and most of those were a result of user error.

YLOD doesn't mean overheat though. You're making a broad generalization.

For instance, I recently got the YLOD and it turned out just to be a bad HDD. It was replaced and everything is good.

That is pathetic to say it is user error with no facts to back it up,go back to sleep.

These are called educated guesses. As an avid forum goer, I haven't heard of very many PS3 ACTUALLY overheat (based on their description). And then when inquiring about actual overheating, most times we find out, they kept their system in a tight spot. I'm standing my ground. Very few PS3's overheat, and most are a result of user error. In order to really overheat a system in the open, the fan would technically have to just quit working.

The facts that I reference are in the treads that the OP admits to having their system in confined spaces. I don't intend on digging them up for you.
