Re: Do 3rd party developers favor a console?

Feb 23, 2014

Some of these companies that i listed have better relationships with sony or microsoft its not always about the cash. For ubisoft playstation gamers get 60 extra content for assassins creed, i beleive the same is with watch dogs...i think some of the devlopers think one console is better than another, The list that i wrote above is what i think each company likes more so for example i think ubisoft  likes sony better maybe it is cause of the money or not its just an opinion. This is not a rant its just a question of curiosity. Smiley Happy

And The Division has exclusive content on XB1 http://www.vg247.com/2013/08/20/the-division-has-xbox-one-exclusive-content-after-all/

Like I said, there's a bit of both. Relationships do a play role in all of this, but cash can sway a company to one side.

Re: Do 3rd party developers favor a console?

I think there's 2 reasons why a developer might favor one console over the other:

1) It might be easier for a developer to develop games on one console over the other.

2) A console manufacturer paying a developer to favor their console.

Given how successful EA games are on all of Sony's consoles, there's only one reason why they won't release Titanfall on the PS4, and that's because of Microsoft paying them a certain amount of money to keep it exclusive to them.

Microsoft has done it many, many times. They do it a lot with DLC - Call of Duty DLC is almost always released on Microsoft's console first.

Now with PS4 development being very close to how it is to develop for PC, we're going to see a lot of PC ports in the next few years, and I think a lot of them won't make it to the Xbox One. Sony has allowed developers to self-publish their titles on the PS4 whereas Microsoft dosen't. So I think as far as indie titles go, we'll be seeing a lot of them favoring the PS4, not because of Sony paying them, but because Sony has really opened up to indie developers and have made it as easy as possible for them to get their games on their system.

This has been on my mind a lot recently do third party developers favor a specific console? This is kinda my stance

Ubisoft-PS4

EA- Starting to Slide to the Xbox

Activision-Starting to Slide to the Playstaion side

Square Enix- PS4

Capcom- Neither

WB Games- PS4

T2 and Rockstar- PS4 ( i know no games were made by them for ps4, i mean playstaion side)

Seriously? Sounds like a rant of a PS fanboy to me....

Ubisoft - please name me one Ubi game coming to PS4 (or PS3) that's not also coming to XBO (or 360). Good luck with that.

EA - PvZ:GW and Titanfall are the only EA games not scheduled for PS4 or PS3. It's simply about money for those two, but it won't affect future titles

Activision - same question as Ubi

Square Enix - the only Squenix games PS gets that MS doesn't are FF and KH remakes. Every "new" title has come or is coming to both sides, which means Sony either paid for the remakes and/or MS didn't want them.

WB Games - same question as Ubi

T2 and Rockstar - same question as Ubi...unless you think "Agent" is still happening.

Ubisoft regularly has exclusive content on PlayStation systems (see: Assasin's Creed, Watch_Dogs). EA is seemingly lining up with Xbox these days, but has done that with PS in the past. Activision is fairly neutral, as are Square and Take-Two/Rockstar. Warner Bros. does exclusive content on PlayStation as well I believe.

But honestly, it just comes down to who is offering more money.

I Enjoy Gaming I don't hate anything about it!
The reason to buy a NEW console is to play NEW Games not old ones.

Microsoft came in, knew they didn't have anything to offer, threw money around and now its a XB1 exclussive. Doesn't matter the last 3 decades of games were better quality on PlayStation Systems.

So let me get this straight. MS had nothing to offer, but then they did offer something; money.?

So money is the offer or it's not a "proper" offer in whatever your bazarro fantasy world is? Does Sony offer sacrifical virgins to developers? That the right offer?

Right, games were better on the PS3 that's why software sales were so low.
