Deactivating/activating on PS3

5 replies 1396 views Edited Aug 18, 2011

Hi. i recently got the YLOD on my fat 60gb ps3. So, i went out and bought a 160gb slimline ps3. On the fat ps3 i had all my downloaded content on it including all Black ops map packs. The map packs i got from a mate and had to create a new user on my ps3 to log in to my mates account and download the maps. My mate has now used all 5 download tyms on his map packs so i cant go on my slim ps3 and redownload them. So after reading up on some forums i have got this theory in my head that if i deactivate my system/user/account on the fat ps3 and reactivate it on the slim one will the map packs come up or be available?? Also can someone plz explain to me the concept of deactivating/activating users account and systems. ALso if this plan was to work how would i do it, i mean the instructions. P.S i am taking my ylod ps3 for repair in a few days then am sellin it off so please help ASAP?

You go to PlayStation Network > Account Management > System Activations. You can disable for game content there. Of course, the PS3 has to be working in order to deactivate.

You have to log into your mate's account to deactivate your system (old PS3), so his content will no longer be activated on your old PS3. Afterwards, you log into your mate's account on your new PS3 to activate your new system and redownload his map packs.
