The only mention of price is on the DCUO website. http://www.dcuniverseonline.com/news/archive.vm?id=4&month=122010
"The game includes one 30-day game membership, with monthly subscriptions available thereafter for US$14.99. For customers playing the PC version of the game, DCUO will be included in SOE's all-in-one Station Access subscription."
I'm hoping it will be free for Playstation Plus subscribers. It would be a great incentive program for new players to subscribe to PS+.
I hear there will be a lifetime membership available for 200$, just 20$ more than 1 year at 15$ a month ... this helps a little, but it'd still be nice to see a special deal for PLUS subscribers like 99$ a year or something.
PLUS should jump on games like this to evolve PS PLUS out of being a simple 'download service' into being a full fledged enthusiasts membership club. Social games and deeper membership interaction should be the focus and selling point for a service like PS PLUS.
I love getting the 'free' games every 2 weeks and the service does pay for itself after a month or two, but I was hoping for an enhanced social dynamic... and an mmo would be perfect. The recent addition of a full free edition of M.A.G. (although capped at lvl 8) and the upcoming exclusive area in PS HOME are hopefully a step in this direction.
nah the lfietime members are only for computer players not ps3. plus be warned any lifetime offer is only good for the lifetime of the game, like Matrix Online they die eventualy and will most likely not include new versions. plus if they make changes to the game that you dont like your stuck with it, kinda like revamp of SWG a cpl of years ago to make it more pvp friendly but killed ingame marketplace.
I don't think Plus discounts have been ruled out, but I agree with the majority here that I doubt Plus discounts are likely. As xxap said, It would be a nice move to help further progress Plus forward beyond a monthly discount and game rental service.
As far as DCUO goes, I did not play the beta a ton ... just enough to know that I would probably not invest $180 in monthly fees + the price of the game. If there was a pay as you go (some small amount per hour) I think I would jump on it, but with monthly Plus game along with my backlog of games, I do not see something as time intensive as DCUO in my future.
I hope we continue to get more Plus betas because it is a great way to try something new, feel like you are participating in making a better game, and get to sort of "try before you buy."
