I'm not going to play dumb with Sony and pay $150 to repair a 16 month old product, but I want to see if I can get something out of it.
On another note, does anyone know if it is possible to store my PS3 game save data on my computer (by transferring with a flash drive)?
if your honest about its state they may still take it, they wont give you as much as a working one but they will still take it, and they will send it in to get fixed, then resell it..

No, you'll be able to fix it.
At Sustituir Consolas, I think they're the guys who fix PS3s to gamestop and other shops. You can sell a broken PS3.
