Controllers not connecting

6 replies 73 views Edited Dec 22, 2012

Just today my controllers would quit connecting. I would press the PS button to turn them on, but i would get 4 blinking lights for a few seconds then it would shut off. I tried plugging in the USB cord to one, but it only worked once. Now whenever i put the USB cord in, it just has 4 links that blink for a little longer. What should I do?

Basic troubleshooting says you try the easiest solution first;

  • Try a new USB cable
  • If that doesn't work, replace the battery.

You can find batteries on Amazon.com.

Thank you. But it's happening to both of my 2 controllers. Would the be a battery problem with both? And would a bad USB cord effect whether the controllers them self cant connect?

Can you get a hold of another controller and try it? If it works, that would eliminate there being a problem with the USB ports. And are these authentic Sony Dualshock controllers, or knock offs? Also try the troubleshooting tips here;

The thing is you have to TRY different things. Sitting here I have no idea what could be wrong, because I don't have your PS3 in front of me. And I know it's common to post a message and then sit back and hope you get the right response, but there's not a whole lot I can do from here, and there are resources on this site, along with customer support representives, that can better assist you.

I appreciate all your help. They are both Sony Dualshocks. I'll attempt to get another controller and see.
