Console Trading: Used Game DRM's Achilles Heel

10 replies 140 views Edited Jun 6, 2013

Think you can't trade games with your friends?

Think again.

How many of you would trade your PS4 with a Friend's PS4 [...or XB1] to get around an inability to trade just the disc?

...and of course I would, that is why I asked.

Too much hassle to trade. Can't use your own psn account. Won't be able to play any other games you own. Other person might break yours.

There are only 1 or 2 people I would consider doing this with, and thats only because I know for a fact they treat their electronics as well as I treat mine. But even then, I don't want to lug a PS4 around to a buddy's house, taking my PS3 with me when I traveled was hassle enough.

Sounds pretty stupid if you ask me. Especially since you're essentially gamesharing, leaving your account open for someoe to access your personal information.

personal information is what will hurt you more than it hurts DRM-bypassing.

There aren't many people I trust with my personal info that I would "trade" PS4's with, especially since most of my friends live out of town, I don't think i'll be mailing my PS4 out....

TL;DR thats a lot of hassle to save a few bucks.....

I would never let anyone outside my immediate family touch or handle my PS3/Vita outside zones I feel safe, and definitely no more than 50 feet away.

Too much personal and account data in these things.

I put a poll up on another site. As of now,  38.64% on the xbox board and 30% on the PS4 board would actually trade consoles with a friend to get around a trading block.
