Will this drive work for the ps4? or does it have to be 7200RPM?

Thanks in advance for any help! Smiley Happy

Systems not out yet and no real info on HDD compatible with it yet. Going to have to wait.

Should be. We can assume pretty safely that it will take the same 2.5" HDD that the PS3 does. So that one should work fine. People like to be on the safe side and just wait for a confirmation that it will, but I think that it's pretty safe to say it will be the same as the PS3 uses.

PS4 is shipping with a 500GB hdd..... why do you need 1TB right off the bat?

That's not entirely true. We don't know if the HDD is going to be SATA 3, so why tell someone that a SATA 2 is OK. To the OP, wait and see what interface the PS4 uses for an HDD.

I would safely assume they will use the same drives that the ps3 would fit

Again, another invalid guess. You don't know that, I don't know that. Until it's officially released by Sony what the configuration is, either SATA3 or SATA2 then DON'T BUY ANYTHING.

"PS4 is shipping with a 500GB hdd..... why do you need 1TB right off the bat?"

I would like to replace my ps3 hdd with 1 TB until I buy the ps4. Then put the TB in the ps4 and, if possible, put the 500 hdd in my ps3.

Would rather have a 1 TB for my ps4 and 500 for my ps3; rather than 2 500 gb hdds.

@tracerwilly  Thanky you, I will hold off buying a HDD for till more is known, kudos.
