I was told the four port ps3 is backwards compatible. All Playstation games work but it depends on your model.

yes, you can play all playstation games on a ps3.

For your current physical copies of PS2 games, you cannot play them on the PS3. There are some PS3 models that can, but they are rather rare and were released around the PS3's original launch.

However, Sony is releasing PS2 Classics. They started releasing PS2 games on PSN at the end of October of this year. Hopefully some of your favorites will arrive soon!

You can absolutely play PS1 games on the PS3, I wasn't saying otherwise. You cannot play disc-based PS2 games on the PS3 Slim models, which is the current model being manufactured on the PS3 line.

There are older launch PS3 models that do have PS2 compatibility but they are no longer being made.

on any platstation3 system:

#1 press the ps3 button on your remote.

#2 scroll over to your game icon.

#3 scroll up to your memory card utility icon and select it.

#4 setup an 8Mb memory slot.

#5 enjoy your favorite playstation and playstation 2 titles without downloading them for $$$$$$$.

i just got done playing my god of war 2 (ps2) DISC on my PS3 slim.

tell me i didnt
