Can someone hack your account?

9 replies 1092 views Edited Oct 25, 2012

I have a clan page on facebook for Starhawk and a guy told me if he could join my clan. I gave him my PSN usernam so I could add him to my clan and he is on my friends list. When I was looking at his facebook account it said he worked at Anonymous. Now I'm scared that he could hack my account or something. Can someone tell me if he could?

Can someone answer as fast as they can? I'd like to delete this person as fast as I can if they can hack.

No one can "hack" your account unless they have access to it via the password, NEVER EVER give out your password.

P.S. I think you're worrying for no or little reason though, all you have to go on is this word 'anonymous".

I just edited my post above.

Yes it's a no, just make sure you don't let them or anyone else have access to ANY other information except your PSN ID.

Only if they either A) they hacked into SEN itself or B) you give them personal information.

Good practice

  • A upper & lower case alphanumeric 12+ characters long password is always recommended. If you can include some symbols [e.g.  }^&*] even better.
  • Refrain from using the same password for every account.
  • When logging into your website using your credentials always make sure the page is encrypted. When the page is encrypted the web browser will display a lock icon & the URL starts with https. [as seen below]
    Forum Page Encryption

These recommendations are not just for your PSN account password but for every account password you use. e.g. email, bank accounts, etc.
