Can i put an aftermarket fan in my ps3 slim?

4 replies 186 views Edited Jun 10, 2013

Hi i have a PS3 slim that keeps freezing up on me. i cleaned the fan in it already and i wanted to put an aftermarket fan in it like cutting a hole in the top and putting a small one in it? is there any way that i can get power to that fan through the ps3?

Thanks.

Yes, you can get power to the fan from the PS3. You can splice the generous 12V rails coming from the power supply or get power from where the original fan connects.

That said, freezing may be a software issue, try reinstalling the game or rebuilding database.

Rebuilding the database would delete all your PSN messages, but it shouldn't cause you to lose savegames. I just did a rebuild last night.
