Can You Password Protect PS3??

20 replies 14566 views Edited Apr 3, 2008

Is there a way to protect your PS3 via a system password. Kinda like windows to logon. I would say like a boot password?

I have a brother who just feels free to go in and play the PS3 whenever he wants lol and I dont feel like unplugging cables or disconnecting anything everytime I leave for work.

i had a similar situation ..and i think i have a good solution.

All you need to do is..hide ur controller..or take it with u. Unless your brother goes out and buys a Sixaxis or DualShock 3...hes outta luck...

install a bootloader as if you were going to install linux, make the default system, "Otheros" and it will boot to a DOS-like screen. You would have to type boot-game-os in order to get to the xmb. It isn't really a password but it would be an obstacle for him to get around. You will need an actuall keyboard though.
