COD MW and MW2 cannot play online, Quits to PS3 Menu

Please Help!!! We recently got COD MW Greatest Hits and it looked like it worked fine. When we tried to play Multiplayer Online, as soon as we login to PSN, it says connecting to servers then it quits the game and goes back to the PS3 menu. We've tried connecting to PSN first then connecting to Multiplayer, and also going into the game, selecting Multiplayer then logging into PSN ... same problem.

Soon afterwards now MW2 is doing the same thing and we can't play Multiplayer online for MW2 as well. We never had a problem with MW2 before installing MW1. MW2 always worked without a problem.

Our PS3 is at System Software 4.10, CODMW is patched to 1.4, CODMW2 is patched to 1.13.

We've tried all the of the suggestions out there such as turning off the router, deleting the COD updates from the Game Utility, turning UPNP off.

I think it has something to do with the patches ... why was MW2 working fine until we installed MW1?

Any help would be greatly appreciated .... Thanks!!!

Welcome to the Playstation Community.

Your PS3 doesn't have the latest firmware, firmware Version 4.11 is available for download, I'm not saying it's going to solve your issue but it's worth a try I suppose!

Thanks, we gave it a try ... 4.11 says it "Improves certain aspects of system software" .... whatever that means

But it didnt fix this problem yet ....

No worries .... We'll try almost anything ... we're still trying things ... without success so far

If we do find a solution, we'll definitely update this forum ... I'm hoping we can't be the only ones with this problem ... I've seen similar posts out there but nothing exactly the same.

Hey mate, I have had this problem with MW2 for over a month on and off and just recently COD 4 started doing it. Its taken me hours of searching around but I came across something that seems to fix the problem.

This sounds really weird but if you or anyone on your internet connection has a torrent program open it causes this. You need to make sure that you close all torrent programs completely and they aren't running in the background. As soon as I did this I was able to play both games without a problem

OMG!!!! You Da Man CMCFAD18!!!! We unplugged the torrrent PC and magically MW and MW2 multiplayer works with no problems!!!!

Weird how the torrents affected COD multiplayer .... but THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!

haha I'm glad it helped bro, I have been trying to solve this for weeks and I found this thread jsut before I got the solution so I came back to let you know. Yeh it is really weird that a program on your computer affects a PS3 game and more specifically only two of the five COD titles that are on the system...
