Won a couple of BRAND new In box unopened controllers on ebay from a man in Japan. This man has sold a bunch of these package deals. I paid $70 some went for around $80 for the 2 controllers one silver and one gold. The Gold one works just fine (for now). The silver one works for a little bit then shuts itself off. I'am pretty sure they are fake controllers. Because the package has a different model number (CECHZC2U). I was burned once before when I purchased a blue controller form someone also in Japan. It had no SONY logo no SONY trademark on the back and no package. It was a fake stoped working after a few days. They have sold about ten of them only one guy said it was a fake. Amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!. And SONY has no control. They stop users from using fake controllers on there system with updates. Yet they do little about those who sell fake Accesories for there system. Amazing! Anyone have the same problem?

It'e not a fake controller. Model numbers are determined by the region.
PS3 model Nos.
CECHZC2H (H) for Hongkong
CECHZC2E (E) for Europe
CECHZC2J (J) for Japan
CECHZC2U (U) for US
CECHZC2A (A) for Australia

If the model numbers don't match then they are fake. Official Sony controllers both the DualShock 3 and Sony logo on them. If they are missing either one, that is another sign. If it has neither, they are not infringing trademark laws.

hold on, so you're telling me that for example, if I own a Region 1 PS3 and I bought a different region remote, it won't work? I wanted to make sure because I'm planing on moving soon and I'll be buying a Region 1 PS3 from the states
