After updating to 4.30, I noticed major slowdowns when trying to use the XMB menu from within a game or while using the internet browser, sometimes as long as 15-20 seconds, maybe longer. While playing a game online, I turned off the system without quitting the game to see if that would help the problem. Ever since I did that, my PS3 will briefly start up and then a yellow light shows before shutting off. Then the red light rapidly blinks until i touch the power button. Then when I touch it again, the same thing happens. WHAT IS GOING ON?!?!?!?!?!? I HAVE NOT SLEPT A WINK.
Which console do you both have? My 320 GB slim is working fine.
152 PS3 games - 564 PS2 games - 72 PS1 games - 202 PSP games - 11 PS Vita games
Over 1,100 games total
No propblems here; update went fine. If you really have a yellow light like you say; then you have no other option but to have it repaired by a 3rd party(Endless Electronics) or replaced under warranty(by Sony).
you've got the YLOD......
you can either call Sony and hope that you still have a warranty, or you can get some other repair facility local to you to fix your PS3 or even try Endless Electronics

No wonder! I was playing MW3 and while using the XMB during a match, returning to the game was taking a looong time. I thought it was my PS3 crapping out.
