Broken Dual Shock 3 Controller: No Refund?

[ Edited ]

Sony is a terrible company.  I bought a dual shock 3 controller on black friday and 2 months later it does not work anymore and because i didnt save the receipt they will not help me out at all.  So pretty much i am screwed out of 35-40$ because of their terrible defective controller.  What a waste.  This company has the worst customer service and **bleep** rolls downhill and the customer is always wrong.

Edit: Updated title to be more descriptive.

Edit: Updated label. Please see this post for more information on labels: http://community.us.playstation.com/t5/PlayStation-General/Labels-Best-Practices-in-PS-General/td-p/...

Depending on where you bought it, you may be able to get the receipt reprinted, and Sony would then have proof of when you purchased it.

Where did you buy the controller?

Did you contact Sony or the store you purchased it from? If it wasnt Sony. Sony doesnt enfoce local store policies.

And how is that Sony's fault?

So what lesson did we learn today. Save your receipt so you can prove when you purchased. What do you think Sony is going to work off of a honesty program for warranty returns. Tell me one company that will fulfill a warranty without proof of purchase.

You title should be " I should have kept my RECEIPT" most any store or warranty needs proof and date purchase.

That is absolutely correct. Unless...

Unless you: (i) bought it from a pawn shop or some sort of similar shop, (ii) were too rough with it and you broke it unknowingly and are blaming it on sony, (iii) were unlucky enough to get a bad controller.

Likely the last one. My dualshocks and systems and even accessories work great after a long period of time. My friends dualshock has lasted him the entire PS3 era. Maybe you just got the bad apple of the bunch. And not saving your receipt is your own fault, bro.

We'll be happy that you leaned this lesson with a product that only cost $35-$40.

If it makes you feel any better. I had a ds4 controller that was acting up after 2½ months. Guess what I did. I took my controller and RECEIPT back to where I purchased it and got a new one.
