It is not so much the brand but the file format [It must be FAT32]

This one claims that it comes as FAT32

The PS3 does that for the internal HDD but, for the PS3 to read an external storage device, this must be FAT32 formatted.

I have a release date fatty. I upgraded to 500 gig with a western digital scorpio blue 2.5 sata hard drive. Works great.

Ps. BEFORE YOU UPGRADE! make sure you have a flashdrive with the latest firmware update on it. Just incase your backup files get messed up or lost.

Or you mean the ps part? When i upgraded mine i didnt back anything up. And the hard drive wouldnt format unless i had a flashdrive with the latest firmware update on it plugged in. True story fella. Heres the proof
