I have a slim ps3 with a bad disc reader and an old fatty 40g that died from ylod. Can I swap the disc reader from the 40g and put it in the slim? Any help would be greatly appreciated...

you'll need to get the exact same laser or drive assembly.

 No you cant the blu ray reader is unique. Sorry, what  you can  do is call sony have them  replace it or fix it.  Also happy gaming in your future
