Re: Best Router For PS3??

the main problem with the 1.92 disconnect problem was the ps3 media server enabled function.

Make sure you upgrade your ROUTERS firmware to avoid any other disconnects.

I have a Linksys G router, works perfectly fine with my broadband internet. I use to get a TON of disconnects, but after the 1.93 patch, it stopped. I think it had something to do with 1.92 patch.

Yo dawg I heard you liked quantum mechanics so I didn't do anything, and I did something at the same time.

Have you guys ever wondered why everyone has different experiences with different routers? And why the bar for Linksys is 50/50. Any router that is 40$+ is fine as long as it can connect to the PS3. You dont DC because of the router, it all boils down to your ISP. If you have good ISP, every router will work well for you. If you have say cable/dsl than you might DC more than someone with cable. I have a G+MIMO wireless router which i cant even use mics on psp online games with, but i have never lost connection on Ps3 or PSP. ISP.

I had a d-link and nothing but problems, took it back and got myself a top of the line "Linksys N Gigabyte" router this weekend and have had ZERO issues what so ever.... I recommend spending the extra amount and getting the best.

D-Link DIR-655 is an excellent router with fantastic range/signal strength.

If your modem doesn't have router functionality built in, then either get one that does or buy something like the linksys e1200. You really don't need anything fancy unless you need a router with a lot of range. I'm not sure how well online play would be on a cell connection, but I know you would probably have high ping times.
