Would you be willing to answer a few brief questions about PlayStation Forums?
Hello. I'am looking at a round battery on my Playstation3 motherboard, when you remove the disk drive. Does anyone know what it's for.
That would be the BIOS
Removing it would most assuredly Brick your console.
I would also assume it's the same as the CMOS (not to be confused with BIOS) battery for a PC, which does everything deaofly mentioned. I doubt it would brick your console, were you to remove it, but it would probably reset some basic settings.
Ok thanks for the info.
It is a coin battery, It's for the CMOS. It provides power to store system information, date, and time when to console is off or unplugged.
