Bad Network Connection?

8 replies 150 views Edited Aug 17, 2011

So, I have a linksys WRT54G2 wireless router. I set it up on the PS3 and everything looks ok ( 100% signal strength, NAT type 2). As soon as i try to play any game online, there is just unbearable lag. I just don't understand what is going on and would really apprieciate some help. Thank you in advance .

100% signal strength does not mean how good your internet is

in internet test - whats the dl/ul speed

The upload speed is rather low.

I would think you'd want at least 400-500kbps for a good gaming experience.  You can do it with less, but there will be more lag.

Do a speedtest.net on your PC and see what the results are there.

If you get more or less the same results, then it's something your ISP can probably increase for an increased monthly fee...

You mentioned signal strength 100%, I am assuming your using your PS3 wirelessly .. .  In a word Dont ! Plug it in to the router. Data encription over wireless will drop your throughput drastically, and your allready dealing with a reduced rate over G wireless 54mbps at best.
