Astro A40's and PS4

3 replies 1077 views Edited Jun 20, 2013

Hey all! I'm a former Xbox gamer that decided to jump ship and stay onboard with Sony even after the latest changes from M$.

I do have a question though, does anyone know for sure if Astro's or any previous headset will work on the new system?

If it uses an optical/toslink interface, then it likely will work.  If it uses the AV Multi-out, it is unclear if the PS4 will have one.

Somehow I must have deleted a sentence. I actually knew it would work for game audio but not sure on chat.

For "game chat" what connections does the controller offer?

Every PS4 will ship with a (wired, mono) earbud and mic.  It plugs into the controller (no idea if it is a 3.5 or 2.5mm plug), which in turn, connects to the PS4 via bluetooth.  As far as using 3rd party mics, we will have to wait and see what Sony says.  Nothing has been said about support for 3rd party accessories at all.
