Appreciation Thread

This is a portables appreciation thread. Name something that you love that technology has advanced in for portable gaming. Yes, you can repeat if you are appreciative for something that has been said. For me, batteries!! Remembering my Gameboy Advance days, how much a pain it was to have batteries die and not have a few bucks to go get new ones right then. How frustrating was it to have your device die and u reach in your bag, and whoops no batteries! Thankful those days of buying AA or AAA battery are over. That was an expense in and of itself. Car chargers and portable extended batteries I love you!!

Backlit screens man. I remember playing gameboy in the dark with a giant magnifier/light unit on it (that also took batteries) but that's definitely an advancement I'm greatful for

Backlights yes! Also, I'm thankful for, dual analog sticks, I know we just go them with the PS Vita, but it makes it so much better for me to play MGS:smileytongue:eacewalker!

You took mine right when I was reading the guy's post, lol.

I remember buying a light for the GameBoy Color and having it light the dark knight during a car trip.

game gear had a back lite screen, no advancement there....but the 6 AA batteries is ate in an hour was horrible. Im grateful for backwards compatiblity. I dont think you could play regular gameboy games on a gameboy color or advanced, right? or did i already forget my gameboy days. Also, when you run out of battery now, your psvita saves everything u were doing and shuts down, rather than just kill everything lol

Completely agree. The Sega Game Gear had a backlit screen but took like 6 AA bateries in order for it to work (which was always a hassle since we used to get the 8 pack all the time).

I'm also grateful about how far things like sound and graphics have come in portable gaming (I'm not a graphics **bleep**, mind you). My main reason for getting a PSP was that it had better sound quality and better graphics than the DS imo (I owned both).
