Because the Vita isn't supposed to a Smartphone or an iPod it's supposed to be a dedicated gaming portable device for hardcore and some casual gamers

Well obviously thats not working out too well for Sony, is it? It seems that will only satisfy a small amount of people.

I'm not saying the Vita is bad, and I'm not saying it should be running the entire Android OS, just be able to have more accessibility to apps and such. Orcat the very least at least make thebweb browser not painful to use

Playstation Mobile is the simple answer. it lets major producers (apple, andriod) and indie developers (whatever that is) can publish apps and basic users can publish emulators. And its all Sony approved. Try the open beta program its like a test and debug thing. You can put the games on your vita as well without a firmware update. Just google "playstation mobile open beta" and then click try now and download the first app on your computer then do the same in your vita web browser but download the assistant which is under the first download. Then your vita will go directly to the ps store and there you can download the app for free. have fun

Oh I've been a part of the open beta for PSM. And it doesn't look like anybody is going to develop or port a browser anytime soon with Sony's 96MB RAM restriction
