Android Rooted phone shared wifi signal

8 replies 104 views Edited Feb 15, 2012

If you have an Android phone that you have Rooted or can get done, hacked hotspot works well with the PS Vita. We have 2 PS Vita's, opened them in the vehicle and turned on, connected easily, updated both on the road (saving AT&T Connect for sometime when we'll use it for other things. I have unlimited data with my phone plan ... and that's what we'll use most of the time.) Really nice. Other Rooted wifi things exist, this is just one built into many ROMS and totally easy peasy.

I use this option as well, AT&T sucks for service at my house and my phone is 4G compared to the Vita's 3G option so using tether just made sense

Mine is 4G too, but we don't have 4G everywhere, just some places closer to bigger cities, but it's an option that's nice for sometimes.

I live in a 4G area so it was a no brainer, Anyone with a 4G phone should get the wifi model. Better to have the option of 4G sometimes than not at all

I do the same with my kindle fire. Even if you went out and bought like a virgin mobile hotspot its like $40 a month unlimited data with 4 devices. They wasted their time with whoever decided the price plan there is way better options

AT&T was a poor choice for a service provider for a data only device, Guess they wherent paying attention to the Iphone launch

does gps work/ update if you tether? Not sure if you had a wifi or 3g model though. If anyone does have a 3g model have you tested this.  easiest way is probably with the map app.

i update near using wifi tether several times a day, seems to work just fine. Its not pinpoint accurate like having a real gps but its usually within a mile or so of my location
