Analysts Want $300 PS4

50 replies 479 views Edited May 5, 2013

Would this be possible for a model like this at launch?  The next xbox is supposed to have $300 subscription based model and a $500 one.  If sony wants to stay competitive I could see a basic model at this price.

Wishful thinking. They're just looking for a reason to say "Sony will fail", and now by being unreasonable they're creating it.

This. Plus I highly doubt they'll see something like that at launch, maybe a few years down the line but not at launch. Sony is already going to begin selling at a loss, idk if they can handle a $300 launch right out the gate and then have that price drop even lower in 2 years or so.

True, this is one of the reasons why I don't think there will be more console in the future. I mean, how long can they continue to keep losing money? The console business does not seem very profitable anymore.

The ps4 will not be as little as $300. Neither will the next Xbox. The Wii-U goes for $279 on Amazon. Retail is $300, and that system is going on a year old. With the ps4 and the next Xbox having better hardware than the Wii-U, it's, without a doubt, going to be closer to $450 - $475 for a ps4 or next Xbox.

I think Sony played it smart by not giving a price at announcement.this gives them a chance to see what Microsoft is going to do in the pricing department so that there's not a giant gap between the cost of the consoles again. With the Xbox announcement coming on may 21, they will probably show what the console looks like and give a price. This will open the door for Sony to show what the ps4 will look like at e3 and price it competitively.

That is a really smart strategy for sony to not announce the price, i think the new system will be at a slightly cheaper price to increase a hope of better sales.
