An issue with my PSP screen

71 replies 1234 views Edited Dec 10, 2009

This is something I noticed recently while playing some Dino Crisis on my silver PSP-3000. Basically, around the edges of the screen, there is a weird discoloration. It's not entirely noticeable, unless the screen is dark (ie when playing a PSOne classic, there are black borders). It basically looks like this:

I just got this PSP a few (4-6) months ago and I have taken great care of it. When I'm not playing it, I keep it in my Playgear Pocket which is quite awesome.

Anyone else experience this issue and have any suggestions on how to get it corrected?

I got something very similar to that when I dropped my cell phone in the toilet, true story. I know, I am clumsy.

Anyways, My guess would be a small amount of condensation is underneath your screen. Have you had it in any humid areas?

Nope. I pretty much play it at home and bring it to work occasionally.

Hmmmm, well if you never had it in your pocket in the rain or anything then I'll be honest, I really don't know what could cause that. Maybe somebody else could help you.

I usually have it in some sort of bag that I am careful about protecting in the rain. With the case on it, it's way too big for my pants pockets. Especially with my phone, wallet, and keys taking up most of the space there. Ha. Thanks for the effort anyway.

I'm gonna try to get a pic of the actual psp later to give people a better idea.

Is it something similar to this?

I had the same problem with my 3000 before I traded it for a PSPgo. It used to bug me up the wall. I hope my go doesn't do the same.

I had this same problem with my PSP-3000 and I sent it in for warranty replacement. Just got my replacement today and everything looked fine, UNTIL I updated the software to 6.20. HMMMM...Could there be a bug in the 6.20 firmware that messes up the contrast/color on the screen?! I really don't want to send this one back as well...

Is there any way I can revert the firmware back to 6.0 or earlier?

my psp 3000 looks kinda like that, but not as bad.  its not a problem with the screen for me its just that I put on a screen protector on bad and the edges aren't sticking.
