...I think people seriously lack common sense... A PS3 gets rid of the clutter, it had HDMI, it cleans up PS2 games a bit. The controllers are wireless... In short...It's the ability to play PS2 games on your Playstation 3. It's not a Playstation 1.5, it's a Playstation 3. There's no reason anyone should say ANYTHING against backwards compatibility.
Fanboys...LAWL...I bet if the PS2 lacked backwards compatibility for the PS1 that would be ok, too, right? Let me guess: "Ah, just buy a PS1". This is too amusing. You fanboys would say it, guaranteed, if that were the case with the PS2.
In the end; it's come to the point where it's a morally unjust way of thinking to say that Playstation 2 BC should not be a feature on the Playstation 3.
It's what part of the reason why the PS2 was such a good console.
People should be voting for this.
I enjoy playing PS2 games on my PS3, especially with the enhansed graphics and the wireless controller options the PS3 can offer. At this point I doubt PS2 BC removal is having a huge impact anymore, but it has taken awhile to get there...
I do think there's some merit. For example as TV's have gotten bigger and living room setups more expansive, you have people sitting farther and farther away from the TV. If I were to play a PS2 title, I wouldn't want to have to either a) drag the console out of it's little cubby so it can be within cable range of me sitting on the couch, or b) pull up a chair to the TV. Wireless alone can be a good reason for desiring the BC. Not saying it's a deal breaker, just that I can see why people still ask for it depending on circumstances.
Also IMO the PS2 is designed to be used with a CRT TV, IMO the PS2 looks horrible connected to an HDTV, even with component cables. Playing a PS2 game through the PS3 (on a HDTV) with an HDMI cable makes a big difference IMO...
