Check this thread out
Reading in there it says you would have to use a UK account.

You can use Maestro as i have this setup for my account (i live in the UK). What must match is your registered address on PSN and your card address. So if you have created a 'fake' UK account to access the content etc and you live in another country were you bank then your card will be registered to where you live and as a result you will not be able to use it as the addresses wont match.
So yes PSN supports Maestro transactions but only if you use them on the correct store, ie the store for the country you are a resident of.

This is the USA Playstation forums. Very few people here have ever heard of a Maestro card (laser). Why not just try to use the Maestro card (laser). Either it will work or it will not work. It will cost you nothing to try.

You should be on the UK store.
Where do you live?
Ireland huh?,....
reading that thread it shows that it is a issue with the card for Ireland.
Say why dont you go to a best buy , gamestop some place that sells games and pick up a PSN card it is the same exact thing as if you was to purchase with your card.
