We’re excited to announce today’s launch of the new Sony Entertainment Network online store allowing you to browse and buy PlayStation Network games, add-ons, movies, TV shows, and more for PlayStation3, PlayStation Vita, and PSP through the web.
Here's how it works:
Q: When I purchase content on the online store, how can I access it?
A: Once you purchase the content from the online store, you can download the content onto your PS3, PS Vita, or PSP by accessing the Download List on the respective device. Q: When will the online store be updated?
A: The Online store will be updated with game content when the PlayStation Store is updated every Tuesday. Updates generally occur anywhere from 9a – 7pm PST, but update times are subject to change. Movies and TV Shows however, can be updated as frequently as daily. Q: What kind of form of payment can users choose in the online store?
A: Payment for products uses the SEN/PSN account wallet. In the wallet, users can specify which credit/bank card to use, can redeem prepaid cards or can use PayPal to fund the account.
Q: Is the online store optimized for mobile devices?
A: At this time, the online store is not optimized for mobile, but future plans are under consideration.
Q: During SEN maintenance periods, will I still be able to purchase content from the online store?
A: During maintenance, you will not be able to purchase content from the online store, but you can browse in guest mode.
Q: How do I report an issue with the online store?
A: Contact PlayStation Customer Service if you believe you need to report an issue. You can also review the Customer Service Knowledge Center to look up a question. Lastly, you can seek out the help from the PlayStation Community in the PSN Support Forums.
Q: When I purchase a movie through the online store to watch on my PC, why do I have to use the Media Go application to download and watch it?
A: The goal of the current online store is to provide a convenient and easy to use way to browse and purchase content on the PlayStation Store via a PC. At this time, movies and TV episodes purchased through the online store can only be downloaded and watched through the Media Go application on PCs. As part of our commitment to further enhancing the store user experience, we are currently developing an in-browser video player for PCs and other features that we think our customers will love.
Q: After I purchase content via the online store, why isn’t it automatically downloaded on my PS3 and PS Vita?
A: Automatic download of games, movies and TV episodes for content purchased via the online store for PS3 and PS Vita is a feature that we are currently developing and plan to implement soon to help improve the user experience. The new online store is part of a broader initiative to revamp the entire PS Store experience and we’ll be making continual enhancements throughout the year.
Q: Can users browse and buy content from Music Unlimited/Video Unlimited through the online store?
A: Users can purchase video and game content through the new online store or the PlayStation Store on PS3 and PS Vita. Music Unlimited is a streaming music service, so titles aren’t available to purchase or browsed through the online store.
Q: How can I add or update my credit card information on the online store?
A: You can update your billing information on the online store as a signed-in user by highlighting your user name in the upper right corner and going to Account Settings.
Q: What is different from the SEN online store and Media Go?
A: Media Go allows users to easily transfer music, photos, videos and other media between a Windows-based PC and mobile devices, including Sony Mobile phones, Xperia tablets, PSP and Sony Walkman. The new online store enables people to simply and easily browse and purchase videos, games and other game-related content via a PC that can be downloaded later on a PlayStation®3 (PS3™) and PlayStation®Vita (PS Vita). Videos purchased via the online store can also be watched on a PC through Media Go.
