Can you imagine if someone at Sony or even Nintendo pulled a **bleep** fit like this?

Well thats unprofessional to the fullest :/

I mean come on...its one thing to express your views, its another thing to be a sarcastic @$$hole about everything and then expect it to be okay when your working with one of the biggest entertainment companies to date. Bad for business, dude shouldn't be allowed on the internet, hes too much of a thread to microsoft...then again, hes too much of an advantage for Sony...so..keep him on Smiley Wink

I don't have a huge problem with "always on" as long as it's done well.  It's surprising that anyone would try to defend it at this time though, with the high profile failure of Sim City in that regard.  I have to wonder if the next XBox was always online, would they still require payments for online services?  I would assume so, but still requiring it for non-subscribers to "check in."

just a rumor. no matter how much times they spin it and say its going to happen, in the end the majority will win.  If they want to lose more than half of their fanbase, go for it but I doubt its going to really happen because the thought of it is just plain stupid.

Those were my thoughts too, but now we have a legitimate Microsoft employee defending this feature. Maybe it's just the game he's working on that has the always-on requirement, but regardless of the product, it definitely doesn't look good.

I think in the next day or 2 we can expect some form of statement from Microsoft about this guy's comments. Personally I don't care because I don't like Xbox anyway. If they go with always online, please let them. The games market will do fine with Sony and Nintendo. A third company isn't needed.
