80710202 HELP! My PS3 keeps logging in and out of PSN I can't do updates

9 replies 6658 views Edited Nov 6, 2011

Help! My PS3 keeps logging in and out of PSN - I can't do updates on games so now I can't even play them! Suggested actions involve checking my Network connection which is fine. When I run an internet connection test it keeps failing at PSN. I have had several error codes each time different which I can't get diagnosed in error codes. Grrrrr! Does anyone know whats going on or what error codes: 80130182 & 80710202 are. Have just bought Drakes 3 and can't play it

Am relieved to know its not just us. Am worried that even if it is an update PSN won't stay logged in long enough to do it!

Re: HELP! My PS3 keeps logging in and out of PSN I can't do updates

I've just fixed mine after 3 days of serious research!

I followed the instructions on this link (I only mention this because I did not adjust these settings again after I did the next step):

http://adamcook.wordpress.com/2008/04/04/how-to-get-flawless-online-gaming-with-your-ps3/

Then when that still didn't work I went into my router settings and changed the channel my router was using and now its working - Yay!

I used this link to look up the DNS 80710202 and that explained the likely causes of the error one of them being poor signal strength.

http://us.playstation.com/support/answer/index.htm?a_id=939

Hope this helps others.

Same issue with a Linksys WRT54G router.  Had flawless connection to the PS3 for a day and then it stopped and wouldn't work.  It'll fail to obtain an IP it not sign into PSN.  Can I please get a "For Dummies" breakdown on what I need to do?

No, those instructions aren't likely to help if you're getting failure to obtain IP address. It may be a symptom of an intermittent wireless signal. Trying a DMZ is for after you have a solid connection to the router, and when UPnP doesn't work.

For a WRT54G, you should:

  • make sure you have the newest firmware update from Linksys' website. Older WRT54G firmware can be very buggy.
  • adjust the wireless channel to channel 1, 6 or 11, whichever is less crowded.
  • make sure UPnP is turned on in the Administration tab of the router settings page. It's an on-off option.
