Hello everyone. Who knows if anyone even cares but I figured I'd say "hello" as I'll be picking up a PS4 this holiday season.
I've owned an Xbox 360 since 2007 and I never glanced at the PS3, mostly because I didn't have the money to get another system. I went with the Xbox at the time because of Xbox Live and the games suited me more. However, that's all changing this year. Microsoft's policies are too ridiculous for me to adopt and Sony got EVERYTHING right. I mean everything: No 24 hour checks, respecting the Right of First Sale, no DRM, no authentication, etc.
It's for that reason I am giving the PS4 my full support and money this time. It also helps greatly that the game selection will be nearly identical to the Xbox One and they have some promising exclusives (oh and Indie support, yay!). PlayStation Plus looks to be getting a significant upgrade and the deals from that service are unbelievable.
It wasn't a hard decision for me and my wife. She doesn't play games much and even she thought Microsoft's policies were insane. She said if we trade in my Xbox 360 and its games she will go in on a new PS4 with her parents and my parents for Christmas. I don't see myself playing much Xbox 360 once I get a new system so I had no second thoughts about it (it was my plan from the beginning anyways).
I haven't owned a PlayStation console since 2006 or 2007, but from everything I've seen and read I can't wait to come back.
I actually owned both systems and considered getting both again this go round. However, the only game that moved me with the other system was Titan Fall and my guess is that it will eventually find it's way to PS4. Welcome to Playstation my friend!
Bask in the holy glow of the blue. Only profligates and heretics will go toward the holy fire of the green. Sony, the god, forgives his users for their sin incarnate of being in the green. The green must be cleansed with fire. All who get in the way will fall.
