3G wireless plans

8 replies 10 views Edited Jan 13, 2012

Ok so I have a question about the plans. How much of the data are you burning up by playing games? What about using social apps like Near, Facebook (posting pics and vids), Twitter and Skype? They just announced Netflix for the Vita on or around launch, what is the usage on that? From what I understand it pretty much has the same plan as iOS products. Does anyone own an iPhone or iPad is data plan bad or should we be wanting what the japanese models have and have an hour based system?

It just sounds like I'll be doing a lot of downloading games off the nework on the wifi connection.

Someone please help

It shouldn't be a whole lot. If you have the 2GB plan you should be fine. You cannot download games or other heavy content through 3G, you can only access online communication (like playing a game online or sending messages to friends), so the 2GB should be more than enough for an average user.

A data plan is good if you have the extra money and you travel a lot and aren't near Wifi connections often when using online features.

The only point of the 3G is basically social networking.

Playing games online is near impossible on 3G for Vita, unless you happen to be playing some turn-based game.

Facebook uses very little. Same with twitter. Skype will drain your data fairly quick, as well as Netflix and other streaming services, like Pandora or something.

I'll be signing up for the 2GB/a month plan cause I burn a lot data on my iPhone as is.  Even though I use Wi-Fi most of the time, I rather be safe than sorry and not have to pay for overages.

I know i'll be using the browser( once its updated), Netflix, Remote Play, Skype and etc on the Vita, so I'ma go all out. IMO, 2GBs will be plenty!

Either go big or go home!

from my understanding that will be a no.

*Mobile Broadband access requires DataConnect Pass plan for other specified devices.  Time begins expiring immediately upon purchase/activation, whether you are using the service or not. Once your time expires or the allotted data is used, whichever comes first, your data access will cease. 30 day domestic plans automatically renew, unless you cancel auto-renewal. Fees are non-refundable.  For full terms see Data Connect Pass Wireless Data Services Agreement on www.att.com/wirelesslegal.  Mobile broadband coverage not available in all areas.

I'm assuming you could just use a PSN card to purchase a 3G plan since it lets you purchase the plan right from the Vita according to AT&T.

Not necessarily. It all depends on how the payment service is setup. For example on the iPad you can buy 3G data plans using iTunes cards through the iTunes store. I doubt AT&T will have that option on the PSN store either so you won't be able to use PSN cards. Most like there will be an independent direct payment system on the Vita or you will have to sign up through AT&T directly.
